Hello and welcome to the Loyal blog!

I’m Celine Halioua, the founder and CEO of Loyal, a biotech company working to extend the healthspan (quality of life) and lifespan (years of life) of our dogs.

I didn’t grow up dreaming to be a founder (or even knowing what a founder was). My life ambition since 18 has been finding the highest leverage way to accelerate bringing aging drugs to those who need them. In October 2019 I incorporated Cellular Longevity, Inc., lovingly known as Loyal, in service of this goal. Since then, we’ve gone from just an ambitious idea to a team of 60+, two canine aging drugs readying for the clinic, our first clinical study successfully completed, and now, at last…a blog!

The goals of this blog are to:

Share insights on building a biotech. Biotech historically is a guarded industry. We are excited to set a modern example and help future biotech founders and people who want to work on developing better medicines.

Provide inspiration to work on hard problems. Our goal is to bring to pet parents the first drugs explicitly intended to extend lifespan and healthspan. The implications of this work are vast and the scope of the problem is immense. We hope to foster a culture of dedicating your time to hard, impactful problems.

Connect with pet parents. Research is a collaborative process, and we are tremendously grateful for the thousands of pet owners who are already participating in our studies. We’ll share how you and your dog can help scientists better understand the biology of aging. Together, we can help dogs everywhere live longer, healthier lives.

Loyal’s science is powered by a team of ridiculously smart, mission motivated scientists, engineers, operators, veterinarians (and their many pets) – we look forward to sharing our journey!
